Super Bowl Sunday & IIFYM

So truth be told, I have zero cares about the super bowl but I do go to watch just to see friends & family.  I’m encouraging my clients to use that day as a refeed or high carb day so they feel less deprived or restricted and can enjoy all the tasty food! 

An easy ratio if you’re already tracking is to increase your carbs to 50% and reduce protein to 30%, Fats to 20%.

If you’re headed to a Super Bowl party this Sunday, here are a few ways to help you stay on track with your weight loss goals while still having a good time:

Set realistic expectations. Aim to hit most of your protein early in the day, save your carb & fat intake to consume at the party.  If you don’t currently track, keep it simple, eat sensibly early in the day so you can drop the guilt at the party.

Bring a healthy dish. You may not be able to control what your friends bring for everyone to munch on, but you can decide on something healthy to bring yourself. Bring a treat you’ll feel good about eating.  Some examples being spinach dip or healthy nachos, veggie tray, etc.

Don't forget the H20! OK, I know that there is nothing like a cold beer to go along with those Super Bowl munchies. While one of two won’t hurt, be mindful of how much you consume. You could end up feeling bloated and no one likes that. Try alternating your indulgences with water.  Go with the tried & true method of having an 8oz glass of water in between each beer or cocktail.

The Super Bowl is supposed to be fun for everyone. So don’t be a Debbie Downer, you can still be the life of the party while still being health conscious.
