I hope you had a great weekend! If enjoying family time interrupted your plan to prepare for the week, do not stress. There is plenty of time today to course correct! What you do today can set the tone for success this week.
Here are 3 easy ways you can set the tone for your week:
1. Prioritize your workouts. If you don’t manage your time, someone else will. From our bosses to our spouses, and children, if you don’t prioritize that gym time or workout time in your schedule, they will find a way to sneak in and grab it! Remind yourself you’re a better employee, spouse, and parent when you get a workout in. Give yourself wiggle room. Schedule at least 4 days of workouts then if 1 day doesn’t work, you have room to move or double up.
2. Meal plan/grocery shop. Choose pre-cooked, pre-cut veggies, meats, fruits to save you time today. As soon as you get home, prep 3 lunches for the week. Easy peasy.
3. Avoid pessimists. This is a big one. I encourage you to steer clear of excuse makers. We all have these people in our lives at some point. Of course we love them (it may even be a family member), but while you’re setting the tone, try to limit your exposure to them. My experience has been that pessimists have a problem for every solution. They’ll say, “oh I wish I could do that,” or “I just love my son so much I can’t possibly take away time from him to workout,” etc. All in hopes of making you feel guilty about your choices. Please know for the most part, excuse makers do this subconsciously. I don’t think they do it to intentionally hurt our feelings. The problem is that those thoughts plant a negative seed in our head and allows the space for that pessimism to grow. Try to limit your time with Negative Nancy until you're more confident in your ability to stay on track.
